Newton is from Rush Valley, Utah and has over 20 years of experience working with club programs and coaching high school basketball in the Beehive State. 

&quot;I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to lead Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball. The tradition is strong, the future is bright, and I am excited to embrace The Bruin Way as we work to build something special together,&quot; said Newton. 

Newton's coaching career includes head coaching roles at Grantsville, Stansbury, and Mountain Ridge High Schools, where she led multiple region championship teams, earned Region Coach of the Year honors, and established strong player development pipelines. At Stansbury, she founded the school's basketball program and guided it to two region titles and four state quarterfinal appearances.

She also gained collegiate coaching experience at Westminster University, contributing to recruiting, scouting, and player development. In the club basketball space, Newton served as Elite Director of Flash Basketball Academy before founding Utah Summitt Basketball in 2020. Throughout her career, she has helped numerous athletes advance to the collegiate level and is recognized for developing disciplined, competitive, and successful programs.

Karina Brandon who was an Assistant for the Lady Bruins the last four years will be following Grayer to coach the Panthers. 

As head coach from 2019-2026 Grayer recorded a career record of (146-57) and a (70-33) conference record. The Bruins achieved three Regular-Season SWAC Titles, two Region 18 Championships, and made two NJCAA Nationals appearances. Grayer also fulfilled the role of Eligibility Coordinator for the SLCC athletic department.

As a former SLCC player from 2008-2010, Grayer brought a wealth of experience to the program. The Lady Bruins were SWAC Champions in 2010.

While an assistant coach, Marci helped lead the Bruins to an NJCAA Final Four appearance in the 2016-17 season, as Salt Lake earned both Scenic West and Region 18 titles. This year the Bruins (22-10) finished third-place in the regular season and lost in the Region Championship game. 

Sophomore's Tahys Da Silva and Lyla Kahrmanovic made the Region 18 First-Team. 

Da Silva started all 32 games this year for the Bruins and led the team in scoring, averaging 14.3 PPG. Tahys led the conference with 84 made three-pointers and in minutes played. Defensively, Tahys had the second most steals (85) in the SWAC. Da Silva is from Paris, France and scored 760 points in her two years at Salt Lake. 

Sophomore Lyla Kahrmanovic transferred to Salt Lake from McNeese State University. In her lone year as a Bruin, Lyla averaged 11.5 PPG and a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game. Kahrmanovic ranked fourth in the SWAC in rebounds per game. Lyla had the seventh best free-throw percentage (.773) in the conference and shot 44% from the field this season. Kahrmanovic was an elite defender who finished with the second most blocks (34) in the conference and was top three in steals (74). 

Sophomore Ahnica Russell-Brown earned Region 18 Second-Team honors. Russell-Brown averaged 7.2 PPG and dished out 49 assists this season. Ahnica shot 41% from the field and 74% from the line. Russell Brown's best game came against Dawson Community College where the returning starter recorded 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists back in November.

The Golden Eagles played a balanced first half and led the Bruins 38-21. Tahys Da Silva and Ines Babaya were the Bruins leading scorers as they both tallied eleven points. Da Silva also recorded six assists and six steals. 

Both teams struggled to take care of the ball as there were 45 combined turnovers in the game, but CSI shot significantly better than Salt Lake. The Golden Eagles shot 25-54 (46.3%) overall and 7-15 (46.7%) from beyond the arc. The Bruins shot 17-49 on field goals (34.7%) and 4-14 (28.6%) on three-pointers. The Bruins ran away with the semi-final game with a big first half. Salt Lake led 16-6 after one quarter of play and boosted the lead with a 37-14 halftime score.  

Tahys Da Silva had a game-high 19 points. Da Silva added five boards, three assists, and four steals. Lyla Kahrimanovic posted a double-double with eleven points and ten rebounds. 

Maria Ignatchenko was big off the bench for Salt Lake as she recorded 14 points and eight rebounds. Maria shot 7-12 from the floor. Ines Babaya added 12 points for the Bruins. Oyinkansola Soetan recorded four defensive and four offensive rebounds for Salt Lake. 

USU-Eastern shot 15-55 from the floor (27.3%) and 3-18 (16.7%) from three-point land. Ines Babaya had a game-high 16 points for Salt Lake. Lyla Kahrimanovic added 13 points, Tahys Da Silva had 13 points, and Simran Williams chipped in 11. Da Silva had a game-high 7 assists. Both Kahrimanovic and Williams recorded 9 rebounds. Salt Lake had 24 offensive rebounds in the game. 

Ariana Strain hit four three's and led CNCC with 12 points in the loss.

Tahys Da Silva and Ines Babaya combined for 26 points to lead the Bruins. Da Silva was responsible for all of Salt Lake's made three-pointers as she went 4-6 from deep. Lyla Kahrimanovic had 4 of the Bruin's 7 assists. 

Both teams had a cold shooting day as SLCC shot 17-50 (34%) and USU-E went 15-54 (27.8%) from the floor. The Bruins won the turnover margin and took care of the ball well. Salt Lake committed only 7 turnovers while USU-Eastern finished the game with 17. There were only ten free-throws shot in the entire game. Lyla Kahrimanovic hit all five of her free-throws on her way to 19 points. Kahrimanovic posted a game-high 7 rebounds. Ines Babaya added 11 points on 5-8 shooting. Tahys Da Silva had a team-high 6 assists. 

There were 51 turnovers in the game. Lyla Kahrimanovic shined with a game-high 17 points and 12 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Simran Williams added 16 points and Ines Babaya tallied 13 points on 6-8 shooting. Ahnica Russell-Brown was the fourth Bruin in double-figures with 10 points.
